How about we join up and fly into North Central for a FAA Safety seminar with Our Favorite Controller, Bob A? It's a little earlier than a usual fly out for a Saturday morning. I would think we should leave no later than 7:30 if we want to have breakfast there or somewhere enroute. (Southbridge, Willlimantic?) Seminar starts at 9:30. a short hop. Only 40 nm. But we can go for lunch afterwards too if we want :-) http://www.navmonster.com/wx/KFIT-KSFZ-10 http://www.airnav.com/airport/KSFZ This event is sponsored by New England Aviaiton, Inc and John H Sulyma Insurance Agency. I found the flyer for this at BID. Get a good nights rest and we'll head out before the traffic for a couple stops, food and a seminar! Charley

Hey Gang, Lets show our support for this cause and do what we do best! Fly out and eat! We are the ones that really benefits from this trip, a short 105 NM hop to KMPV Edward F Knapp State Airport Barre/Montpelier, VTMont. http://www.navmonster.com/map/KFIT-KMPV-10 http://www.airnav.com/airport/KMPV We have been asked to show our support on this fly out by Joel Glickman of the NE pilots group. What do you say we join in on this event, Sounds like a good cause and with a bonus of flying and food who could go wrong! "... The state of VT has been working diligently to close a Montpelier airport favorite, Sambel's restaurant. It is conveniently located right on the field within the terminal building and is operated by the friendliest restaurateurs you will ever meet. Brenda and Bob Sambel are VERY pilot-friendly, willing to open the restaurant for us outside of their normal business hours when they know pilots are coming. Apparently, the state has alternative plans for this building and they are pressuring Sambel's with political and governmental tactics, despite the fact that Sambel's has a lease and are abiding by every word of it...." NEPG Check out the informative write up done by the NE Pilots group info here: http://www.meetup.com/NEPilotsGroup/calendar/12827313/ plan for a wheel up out of Kfit at 11AM,
With their roots based in bluegrass, Celtic, and jazz music, the good ol’ fashioned family band Cherryholmes has stormed to the top of the music world since winning the 2005 IBMA (International Bluegrass Music Association) Award for Entertainer of the Year. Sure, they’re kind of kitschy but nearly no one in the traditional bluegrass circuit can mimic their downright flying fingers and ripping musicianship. Parents Sandy and Jere Cherryholmes (on mandolin and upright base, respectively) are the foundation of the six-member band, with children Cia, Skip, BJ and Molly at the forefront of the group’s hard-driving instrumental virtuosity and explosive vocal harmonies. With stylistic choreography, their own lighting design and various styles of original songs written by members of the band, Cherryholmes is a group unlike any other, sure to get your feet tapping, put a smile on your face and maybe even move you to do some dancing in the aisles.

With a motto like, "Do Your Best", how can we say no? This is from our own member, Dave Rocheford. He's a co owner (right side only) of the famous Skyhawk N20071 with me, father, scout leader, attorney, and more. Let's make this happen for that group! The Westminster Cub Scout Pack has asked me to help them plan their April pack meeting. The theme for the month is aviation and flight. A requirement for some of the scouts is to visit an airport. I thought it would be a great if they could visit the Fitchburg Airport. I think it would be a good opportunity for the boys, the airport and for the FPA. The Pack meeting is Saturday, April 10th in the morning. There are 50 boys in the pack but they would likely not all attend. I could provide an exact head count and would figure about 35 to 40 boys from ages 6 to 12 years old. Would you be able to help me coordinate this with the AP and the FPA? I was thinking that they could break into 3 or four groups of boys and tour a few planes, hangers, shops and maybe have a ground school type of activity for them. This may even be something that could coordinate with Young Eagles. ...Sounds like we'll need some planes, pilots, ...the usual... I"m sure they will be bringing their parents along. The Early Ford V8 Car Club is having their annual Swap meet and Car show. This is the same group that we do the Wings and Wheels show with, but this isn't the Wings and Wheels event. This is a show that they host by themselves, but they have offered us some space to park a couple of airplanes and setup a table. At this table, we can provide information about our Wings and Wheels, Young Eagles, and Learn to Fly events as well as general information about why airports and pilots are so great to the thousands of people they bring in. Since their event is on 2/20, this is too easy to pass up. http://clubs.hemmings.com/clubsites/earlyfordv8newengland/Fleamarket.htm This is the SETUP day. I believe we are only required to show up and plan out what we want to do the next day. In addition to myself, it might be nice to have one or two other people who will be there Sunday to help get things ready.

It will help to have some people get there early and some people later (say 9am?) to relive the early people and maybe let them walk around the show. We just need a couple people to stand around, watch out for the airplanes, answer questions, hand out flyers, and take Young Eagle signups maybe.
This is a big weekend here and starts their summer. I say we head to the events and stop to smell the daffodils... " A Three million daffodil Celebration: April's gentle breezes and warming sunshine coax new growth from the island's sandy soil, adorning roadsides and gardens with an astonishing variety of daffodils. Come wear your Daffy Hat, watch the Antique Car Parade, have a tailgate picnic and welcome spring. " We can have breakfast and then head to town and see the sights... Might be a good time to also see the Nantucket Whaling Museum.. Did you know the novel Moby Dick was written after a Nantucket whaler named Essex was destoyed in 1882 by a whale? Even caused the crew from ACK to cannabalism... How bout that... Then we can go have lunch somewhere on the island too :-) http://www.nantucketchamber.org/visitor/daffodil.html The big antique car parade is also on Saturday... at noon.... at 12:30, the Daffy Dog Parade starts.. dogs dressed in daffodils... This will be a fun day trip... Bring the family and let's pack the planes.... RSVP PIC or PAX. This is why you learned to fly! Charley

Many of us have heard the expression “found art” to describe objects not usually considered art, but still can be found to be aesthetic, intriguing and beautiful. Now think of what something like “found music” might sound like. Maybe it’s car horns and the sounds of a coffee shop, or City Hall and an elementary classroom. Maybe it’s that mixed with orchestration, video, percussion and symphonics. What it most definitely is, is the genius of So Percussion hitting things – drums, glockenspiels, coffee cups, metal pipes, whatever is handy. Since 1999, when they met at the Yale School of Music, this foursome has merged percussion with emotions, resulting in music called “astonishing and entrancing” by Billboard Magazine, and “brilliant” by the New York Times. Now, here at CenterStage, after gathering the sounds and sights of Fitchburg and its people on film and audio during the last year, So Percussion will present its one of a kind new work Imaginary City, a compilation of sounds and sights of Fitchburg and other multiple sponsoring cities from around the country. Join So Percussion for this amazing Fitchburg performance.

LEARN TO FLY DAY, MAY 15 I'm sure we'll do something... Let's decide soon. Maybe an Open House day? During AirVenture 2009 EAA and numerous other aviation organizations declared May 15, 2010, as International Learn to Fly Day. To help support this effort, EAA is encouraging chapters to hold some activity on that day that will introduce the general public to the idea of learning to fly. Learn to Fly Day events do not need to be complicated or extensive. They can be as simple as taking someone for an introductory flight and then introducing them to a flight instructor. Plans might include an airport open house, a fly-in breakfast, or even a mall show. Use your imaginations and keep us posted as to what you plan to do so that we can share your ideas with other Chapters. We've also established a special e-mail address for Learn to Fly day suggestions, plans or questions. We will also be posting ideas and progress on the development of International Learn to Fly Day on EAA Web pages. The following are some ideas to get you started. Remember, these are just suggestions, so use your imaginations: Airport Open House Chapter Hangar Open House Intro flight Presentations to other organizations Program swaps with other organizations (example model airplane club) Mall shows Cooperative program with flight school

Let's go to Ft Ticonderoga.... If you can say Ticonderoga.... It's right near Lake George and they have an airport and a restaraunt there. From there, the nice easy flight up Lake George is amazing. It's a fun lunch and something amazing to see. All within 107.4 nms. Let's get outside and enjoy the air. ------------------------------------------------ Called by some the Ã?Â"Gibraltar of AmericaÃ?Â" or the Ã?Â"Key to the Continent,Ã?Â" Fort Ticonderoga was one of the most strategically important places in eighteenth-century North America. It is no wonder that battles were fought here during both the French & Indian War (1755-1763) and the American Revolution (1775-1783). Battles continue to be fought at the Fort, only now in remembrance and not anger. Twice a year historical reenactors bring Fort TiconderogaÃ?Â's military history to life through recreated battles, including: Interpreters in period uniforms tell the story of the Fort throughout the day. Weather permitting, they will offer a musket demonstration. The King's Garden is open June 1st - Columbus Day for tours from 10am to 4pm. Groups need to reserve in advance. http://www.airnav.com/airport/4B6 \ http://www.fort-ticonderoga.org/index.htm

Fitchburg Massachusetts is the second largest city in Worcester County but still manages to maintain its small town flavor. Fitchburg is noted for its hilly topography and its old mills along the Nashua River with its tightly knit neighborhoods that still retain their ethnic identity.
Located just 10 miles from New Hampshire and 50 miles from Boston, the city enjoys excellent access via highway or public transportation to all points.
The paper industry was dominated the history but that has given way to a healthier economic diversification that now includes tool and die makers - machine manufacturers – pharmaceuticals - plastic molders and textile producers.
Cultural assets include the Fitchburg Art Museum, Fitchburg State College and the world famous annual Longsjo Classic Bicycle Race.
